This was brilliantly articulated. The 'garden ethic" epitomises human compassion and its something I've been sharing with my kids for sometime now. Thanks for sharing this gem of an essay that will stay with me for a long time!

It made me think of things I hadn't considered. And, I've put my seeds in, too, though indoors. Gardening is fundamental to who I am, and I share the attitude of "it'll either work, or it won't." Few expectations. I hope you're well, Charlotte. What a year it's been.

Such fond memories of trying to garden in Telluride. That wee house of Eric Doud's had a tiny plot in the back. I think all I ever managed was walking onions and lettuce!

And yes! What a year -- when this is over I'm going to visit EVERYONE
