Hey Everyone —
Substack Notes is live now! Come join the newer, funner party where people are chatting about things.
For those of you who aren’t “very online” as the kids say, Substack notes is a chat interface that looks like it’s going to be fun. As for me, I’m stoked to have someplace to chat with writer friends, and I’m hoping it’ll help me break the time-consuming Twitter habit I’ve developed. For a lot of us who work online, at home, Twitter was where we chatted with folks all day, and I have wasted hours of my life I’ll never get back.
I’m also planning to post more often. Substack can be overwhelming for a lot of people since it comes into your inbox in the form of emails. A couple of tips: if you’re on Gmail, you can assign them all to one of the Inbox organization tabs. Mine all go in “Social”. And if you subscribe to a few Substack newsletters, you can access them all in a handy interface online at Substack Reader. It’s like the old days, when we had RSS readers for blogs. You can go to one handy site, and see who’s posted, and click in to read the newsletters in a nicer web-based format.
Hank, cooling off in a snowbank this morning when it was unseasonably warm, and he’s still got all his undercoat.
Notes is a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more. I plan to use it for things that don’t fit in the newsletter, like work-in-progress or quick questions.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to LivingSmall: The Subversive Power of Scaling Down, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of LivingSmall: The Subversive Power of Scaling Down can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!
